- Creativity now is as important as education and literacy.
- If you're not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original.
- if we don't grow into creativity, we will grow out of it - or be educated out of it.
- Intelligence is diverse, dynamic, and distinct.
- "We have to rethink the fundamental principles to which we are educating our children."
- educate children's whole being, rather than just their heads.
As of now, public schools aren't encouraging their students to be creative. Which brings me to the conclusion that if the students parents aren't pursuing their children's future in terms of creativity, their children will lose their creativity all together.
Public schools need to realize how truly important it is to encourage students to pursue their creative side, rather than sucking the life and excitement from their students. In a way, it seems as though the public schooling system is building robots by draining children's spirits and convincing them that what's in their heads is far more important than what's in their hearts.
I love that you added the notes you took ^_^ I'm also impressed with the fact that you were able to catch and reiterate/simplify some of the best points; I took lots of notes, but I was trying to write them verbatim and if I couldn't remember one word, it through me off and then I'd miss 2 other points he had made >_<
ReplyDeleteIn regards to this topic, I have a very creative daughter that I've always tried to encouraged to be who she is because I know how important it is to nurture all of her, but I HaVe gotten sidetracked before and I do sTiLL because I don't like her getting in trouble at school for falling behind in the IMpORTaNT subjects and for not sitting still so I focus my energy on that... it doesn't help that I grew up in the same screwed up school system.
